We are so excited to share Sabyasachi’s latest line after his 20th anniversary show. This winter line offers four different styles, each is extremely unique.
The line is broken into four categories-Isfahan, Chowk. Devi, and Nargis, . The designer decided to create a line that is diverse and targets more of a younger audience.
Isfahan line is inspired by the Mughal dynasty. We love how this line focuses on velvet. This fabric is perfect for winter!
Indian purple is replaced by a faded jamun, fuchsia gives way to pomegranate, and bright feroza comes shrouded in layers of patina.
This line is extremely regal since it combines velvets, mulmul, and organzas.
Chowk is for the outgoing bride and the line has a similar tone to some of their older collections.
As I travel more and more through the interiors of India, it never ceases to amaze me how rooted these textiles are. Something that comes out of an untrained eye becomes very modern because it is not affected by modernity. When I look at the way women in rural India dress, their naiveté and their authenticity in how they express themselves through their clothing make them almost arrogant and defiant in a positive way,” he frames his thoughts behind this line.
Devi is for the traditional brides who wants the traditional red lengha. The line has a big range in prices so there’s something for everyone. He also included some pastels for more of a western appetite. We love this Iranian Turquoise color!
